He'd find it weird if I called him that. So just say "To my nugget" instead.
[He hasn't called his son by his name in ages. Not to his face anyway. Nope, instead his son is his little nugget. That jewel when everything else might be a piss hole.]
Alright. I'll say the rest and you write it out.
[He clears his throat then starts.]
"It's your da with another letter. Your ma told me you were helping her with her business lately and picking things up fast. I always knew you got your brains from her. Probably for the best because those aren't my strongest thing and they get me into trouble more than they probably should. Sure got me into trouble with that old bird I told you about but your da has kept his nose clean of that for a bit now. Don't you worry."
What, you think she can come back from the dead to grab you by the ear and scold you? Wynne was capable of a great deal, I'll admit that easily, but not that.
[He manages to refrain from 'again,' he doesn't know of Oghren knows that bit but he's been sworn to secrecy.]
You can assure the nugget that she'll not come grab him by the ear either. Unless they buried her very deep down.
[Anders says a little grumpily. Wynne had apparently been the best mage friend to have while traveling, but Maker forbid any other mage get to be out of the Circle. It annoys him sometimes that everyone who traveled with her and Jonas seemed to love her.]
Teren's not as bad as you think. You just piss her off because she doesn't appreciate fart jokes and smells with personality.
[Was he present for it? He can't recall, and he feels a little bad if he was and didn't say anything.]
All right. Maybe the two of you don't exactly have a... working relationship. I can see how your personalities would clash. But you yourself are admitting it was stupid what you did to get on her bad side, in this letter.
[He leans over to have another look at the letter to see where it's at now before clearing his throat to continue.]
"Anyway, I got you some puzzles and games I thought you might like. You've been liking those lately so I thought maybe you'd like to have some more. These are supposed to be challenging but you can let me know what you think when I come visit. Not sure when that will be but I'm going to try to make it soon, little nugget. I need to see how much you've grown for myself."
[He pauses there a moment because being all emotional around others is not his strong point but Anders is here to help him so...]
"You're the best thing I've ever done in this life of mine, nugget. I'm proud of what you're becoming. Keep it up and don't follow in your da's footsteps. You deserve the greatest of everything."

[A sip of his wine and then he continues.]
You getting that so far, Sparkles?

Got it. ...Old bird?

[He figured that one is pretty clear honestly.]

[He took a drink in her honor then gave a snort.]
No. Teren's the old bird. Looks and acts like a vulture. You ever see one of those things? Terrifying.

[He squinted his eyes at him.]
She threatened to kill me, held a sodding knife to me, and tried to cut off my blasted beard. And she's not that bad?
[Seriously?]

You ready for more?
no subject
Of course. She can be difficult too, and yes, I'm ready.
