[There'd been one time he'd seen some sort of actual decency from the guy. The rest had lead him to think that glimmer was either fake or nearly nonexistent.]

You're certain it's real? His kindness to you? That it's not some sort of show? If you're sure I'll trust you on it. But marrying into a noble family is something that someone who seems so focused on appearances might pretend nearly anything for.
