Then what are you mocking?

[He saw Anders as a man too toxic to be a true healer, at least to him anyway.]

I apologize, no you did not call me a fiend, but you certainly have low esteem for me as a Chevalier and...no doubt, because you think that I am a noble. As I have said, however, I am not returning.

[Why else would he bring the cat if this was temporary?]

You know me so well. Perhaps you have a little bit of pride in you as well.

[Based on the number of conversations they've had which amounted to a grand total of two, it's rather amazing that Anders thought he knew anything about his pride or his resolve.]

We did not have conversations, we had a single conversation and I retrieved our furry friend here in our second encounter. I did resolve to take care of her and keep her safe, did I not? And here she is, coming with me, healthy and safe as promised.

[Which was perhaps and underestimation of his resolve on the part of Anders and then there was his demon which Michel had not given up on for a single day in an entire year.]

Zevran. [By the way, reminding Anders that the name of the one he loved was not "elf".]

And that was ever in doubt?

[Michel wasn't offended so much as he believed in the distinction of it, that Anders could not know anything about a person in two encounters.

Of course that was offensive, offensive enough for Michel to take a stance, the heat rising from his chest, the desire to truly ring the man's throat was in his eyes.

He didn't rise to the occasion, the man's tongue was as much silver as it was lead.]

I stand by what I said. It is not just mages who suffer in this world, but for a blameless, thoughtless, twitchy little man I'm sure it the only suffering that matters. And the best you could do was flee to this camp so that you might be sheltered from the disapproving eyes of Skyhold. How fortunate you have plenty of warm bodies to hide behind. It is better that than facing them with that pride the you desperately believe in, scream loud enough and perhaps it might be true...and yet it's not enough to walk into Skyhold with that same high-powered attitude. It's unfortunate that your sneering sanctimony isn't the equivalent of courage.

[And in that, they were not to0 different, perhaps Michel wasn't one to forget that he had feet below his knees so easily, but his pride did not make him forget the one atrocity in his life that he committed. Anders seemed to revel in his graveyards, from Michel's perspective, and though the man claimed to have pride, claimed to be equal to everyone else, he hid here, behind the graces and the reputation of the Grey Wardens. Michel wasn't certain he believed in the man's pride as much as Anders seem to believe it himself.

But he was through speaking to him, he gathered the reigns of the horse instead and with the creature trotting along beside him he left the camp.]
