Nathaniel wants to argue. He doesn't do a tremendous job because this is hard and he's thinking every manner of ill about Loghain while hypocritically telling everyone to calm down. He hasn't done anything worthy of appreciation. But then Anders would argue back, and Nathaniel would feel even guiltier for making someone come to his defense. Sex will help distract him, and it will let him give something good to Anders. He peers up at his husband.
