And now... Hello? I'm assuming you're trying to reach me. By the Forge. So you talk now, or not now, you talk when I'm done talking, and then I'll get the message and I'll respond as quickly as possible.

[There's another pause.]

Oh! Anders. I'm Anders. You have reached Anders, please leave a message for me.

[There's another click as the message ends.]

...Giant ants. I hate giant bugs. There are spiders the size of wagons and sometimes houses in Thedas. They like to drop from ceilings, or jump out of caves that you could have sworn would be too small to hide anything like that.

But shame, that can be a powerful thing. I'm not sure what you mean by getting a memory back, though.

They were poisonous too, or so I heard. I never stuck around to find that out first-hand, though.

[A faint rustling of cloth, as if he's shrugging or shifting position.]

No one trapped in that place could remember anything about their past, not even their names. There were crystals floating around that would restore a single memory, part-way. Usually most of the senses were blunted--you could see but not hear, or smell but not touch. And then... you'd get a punishment for that.

Most people took the risk, that the memory would be worth the punishment.

[He's silent for a time. When he speaks again, his voice is thoughtful.]

So no one came with any set hatreds, or prejudices. It would be awful to forget everything against your will, granted, but was everyone treated like a person as opposed to what they may have been back home?

We had... something. Vague feelings in place of certainties, and a single dream. But for the most part, yes. We didn't have much choice; there weren't any natives there, just people brought in from other worlds. If we wanted to survive, we had no choice but to work together.

...I kind of miss that, some days. The feeling of... [He manages to stop himself before he can actually say the word 'belonging'.]

...dammit. If I'm going to talk too much no matter what I do, maybe I should just start drinking.

[He doesn't actually mean that, but. It is tempting, to make the time go faster if nothing else.]

It might make it less painful, but you also might wind up turning on the Forge and talking with everyone. It's up to you how much you want to risk. I'm likely going to try to stay sober. Depending on what else happens. If Yaha gets more threatening, though, or says something to Tony again, I may well join you in drinking.

[He snorts.]

I probably won't, but I usually just fall asleep if I drink too much rather than calling people randomly.

Sure, if you like. I wouldn't mind; the last time we drank together didn't end that badly, even if you probably told me more than you wanted to.

...I honestly don't remember half of that evening, I'm sorry. It's been a long time since Justice let me get drunk. He knew I needed it. ...Is there anything I said that I should apologize for, while we're on the topic?

Only if you want to apologize for talking my ear off. You're a pretty chatty drunk.

[He sounds amused, though.]

At least I didn't wind up offending you, apparently. I'll let you know if this thing gets too much and I need the drink, or you let me know if you wind up with a need. ...A drink need, I can't really offer the other sort anymore. No matter how pretty your eyes may be.

[A pause.]

Tch, not you too... I've got some ale a friend left behind that needs drinking in my room. That's probably where I'll end up, if it comes to that.

And don't worry. Even if you do end up propositioning me, I'll turn you down. Tony can rest easy.

I flirt with everyone. I'm in enough control to follow through with just the ones I want to, however, even when I've had some to drink.

...Though I have to say I'm always surprised by how quickly news travels, here.

That's good. I can deal with flirting, just don't expect me to flirt back at you.

[He snorts.]

Maybe yes, maybe no--but you told me that one.

Oh. Seeing as I don't remember that, I'm going to guess it was the one night, then. I was fairly certain I'd only mentioned it to Martha and Isabela.

You mentioned it when I was half-carrying you back to Tony's house. Or did you forget that I ended up staying the night there, too?

No, I saw you on the way out in the morning. But there are others who have crashed at the place, from what I've gathered, since it's got more than a few rooms. You could have written it off as where I was staying, not me being with him. Not that it's a problem that you know.

The only person who it would be dangerous to have know, Tony told directly.

Yeah... I guess I ended up sleeping later that you did. But no, you made it very clear that you were with him.

[A slight pause.]

...you're kidding me. He told Yaha? ...or Fenris.

You have a lot of enemies, mage.

Yaha. Fenris won't hurt him, Tony isn't a mage. ...And I know it's a little thing, but please don't call me mage like that. There's no hatred in your voice, and that makes it better, but Templars and Fenris call mages like that, as if we're just things.

I am a mage. But I'm also Anders.

...sorry. Guess I wasn't thinking.

[He's used to calling people by their professions, but... honestly, with the world Anders is from... he should have known. Or at the very least, he should have guessed.

He doesn't dwell on his mistake for long.]

Though what was Tony thinking, telling Yaha about it? If Yaha's as determined to get to Justice as you said...

Thank you. And I don't know. I've no clue what was going through the man's head then. But the last time the Forges did their... show, Tony dropped the detail after Yaha dreamed of my body.

Tch. Possessiveness, or jealousy, maybe? Though that's a little childish of him.

If it had been to anyone else I would have been happy. There's something touching about being that important someone gets a little possessive, and not in a bad way, and for once in my life I want to shut up and I can't.

[He sighs.]

Maybe we should stop talking, then.

...though if you want, come by in the evening. I think I might just end up drinking, since this doesn't look like it's stopping anytime soon; I certainly wouldn't mind a little company.
